scar correction

The past decade has seen many updates in the field of scar correction.  The way a scar develops depends as much on how your body heals as on the original injury, whether caused by an accident or surgery.  Many variables can affect the severity of scarring, including: the size and depth of the wound, the blood supply to the area, the color and thickness of your skin, and the direction of the scar.

Dr. Brozowski will meet with you and discuss your scar type and different techniques to improve the overall appearance of scars with a combination of fillers, laser resurfacing, and peeling or dermabrasion techniques.  These procedures can be accomplished in a short office visit and have minimal down-time.  While no scar can be removed completely, Dr. Brozowski can often improve the appearance of a scar, making it less obvious, by matching the color and texture of the scar to your skin through laser scar revision and dermabrasion.  Depressed scars, such as those caused by acne or chicken pox, can be minimized with the use of a filler injection to restore the natural contour of the skin in the area of the scarring.  Hypertrophic scars, or reddish scars, can be masked with the use of laser therapy that blends the color of the scar with the rest of your skin.  Dr. Brozowski is one of the only physicians in the East Bay that uses a new diode laser especially designed to reduce the redness of scars and ablate broken vessels.

Scar revision is a process and improvement occurs over time with a series of treatments.  To schedule scar correction or a consultation, please call our office at 510-549-3333.
